During the late 19th century Lithuania was under Russian rule.  The Lithuanian alphabet and books printed using the Lithuanian alphabet were forbidden.  This was unacceptable to the Lithuanian people, therefore books in Lithuanian with the Lithuanian alphabet were printed in other countries and smug-gled into Lithuanian. The Lithuanian book-smuggler became a hero to the people.  By ealy twentieth century the Russians gave up the russification of Lithuania and legalized the use of the Lithuanian alphabet in printed materials.  This play por-trayed the struggle during that time.  After one rehearsal, the Theater arts strand presented this play to the participants during choice lecture time.
