Certain activities were planned and accomplished, and we still hear echoes of the lessons about democracy. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and to teach the members of the school community. During the time of the project:

For a few years the radio station Your voice (94.4 FM) has been transmitting programs to the community of the blind and sight-impaired people in Kaunas. The students of Kaunas Center for the Blind and Sight-impaired participated in the creation of the programs. The students play, sing, recite and tell stories, and all is being recorded at the radio station and transmitted at a regular time. Children readily participate in these programs; before recording they are nervous, and later on excited when they hear their own voices or their performances played on the radio. Together, we prepare concerts for various events like Christmas, Teachers day, Mothers day, etc. During those programs we talk about meetings with famous people, we share our impressions about various trips and events. This season our project for the blind was financed. We are happy that our work has attracted attention to the problems of the blind and sight-impaired in our society, and we hope that this will help them integrate into society more effectively. The project is coming to an end. With our students we reviewed many photoalbums, chose the most beautiful ones, discussed them and shared our opinions. We went to the photo-gallery in Panevėžys. There enjoyed looking at the pictures of the famous photographer Izis. We were familiarized with many types of cameras. Later on we visited a photo studio and watched professional photographers at work. Children took pictures of their friends and their environment, and prepared them for an exhibition. We are planning to show them to the local community with the help of multimedia. Vilma Samulionienė, kindergarten teacher at Aušra in Panevėžys |
